digiKam edges out Picasa again this year, but since Google dropped the Linux
version of Picasa, the number two spot will be gaping open next year. As the
husband of a photographer, I have hundreds of thousands of photos to manage,
and quite honestly, I haven't found a great way to keep track of them on any
platform. digiKam and Shotwell certainly get better and better every year;
the question is whether local native apps or cloud-based storage will truly be
king.
